Lamiaa Hefni is one of the few CLT-LANA-certified physical therapists practicing in the western Chicago suburbs. The credential — Certified Lymphedema Therapist, board-validated by the Lymphology Association of North America — is held by roughly one therapist per 100,000 Americans. That scarcity is why patients with breast-cancer-related arm swelling, post-surgical leg edema, and primary lymphedema drive past four or five other clinics to find her.

Lamiaa specializes in Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT), the international standard of care for lymphedema. CDT is built on four pillars — Manual Lymphatic Drainage, multi-layer short-stretch compression bandaging, decongestive exercise, and skin care — and her practice integrates all four into every patient's plan from day one. She also runs the clinic's neurostim scar therapy program, which is most often paired with lymphedema work for patients with axillary web syndrome or restrictive post-surgical scarring.

She keeps lymphedema cases on a single therapist throughout treatment. There is no rotation, no handoff, and no "the other therapist will be familiar with your case." That continuity matters more in lymphedema than almost any other area of physical therapy — the technique is hands-on, the pressure tolerances are narrow, and outcomes are measured by limb volume in millimeters.
